WATCHTOWER HEAVY LEON WEAVER JR BECOMES PRESIDENT OF WATCHTOWER'S NEW YORK CORPORATION Leon Weaver has been made president of Watchtower’s corporate group for New York. This is no surprise to those who know him since he has been "Mr. Zealous," kept busy as the go-to king at Bethel for many decades working as a Circuit Overseer, a Service Department enforcer, and on the top-level Service Committee.  He has also been a Vice President of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.   Seeming to be charming, amusing and disarming, Leon has also directed harsh Theocratic Warfare tactics against opposers especially those Ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses deemed “apostates.”  These characteristics likely helped him rise in the organization early and to maintain quick upwards momentum and stability as paranoia struck after the 1975 fiasco followed by a widening witch-hunt against reform-minded Ray Franz and others from the early 1980s. He is an African-American who is also a close friend of the African-American head of Public Relations, J.R. Brown.  He is utterly devoted to doing the mother organization’s will.  Physically he looks shorter but may be about six feet tall, is of thin bones, has very long fingers, wears glasses, sports a mustache, has a somewhat receding forehead.  His voice is clear, become more raspy but also dignified in the past ten years in particular. He has always highly stressed doctrinal “unity,” and has been a pusher of preaching at doors and keeping up Watchtower’s finances with the building and use of assembly halls and other real estate matters. He is much into the idea that everyone is out to persecute himself and other valiant warriors fighting for Jehovah God and that Armageddon will be happening any second.  His experience with assembly hall construction and other matters all around should prove extremely useful to Watchtower.  This is because new headquarters are being built at Ramapo and other nearby locations in New York state.  Watchtower has already sold a number of its skyscrapers in Brooklyn and will be selling the rest, too.  His clear-cut, long-time-demonstrated competence stands out in the current atmosphere of disarray and confusion coming from the Governing Body men.  They are headed up now by Geoffrey Jackson who is from Australia where Watchtower is currently under prosecution for not complying with Victoria state's Working With Children law mandating background checks to protect against child molestors.  It is not clear if Weaver is also still Vice President of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses Inc. In any case, Jackson and Company's elevating of Weaver demonstrates their confidence in not only his ability but also his loyalty to them as Jehovah's representatives on earth.  If some-to-all of them were to be convicted, though, he would then be be the most powerful person in the Watchtower organization except for Don Adams who is President of the Pennsylvania corporation and back by his brother Joel Adams of the Service Department. The appointment will also receive favorable viewing from the many African-Americans as well as the still climbing number of Jehovah's Witnesses in Central, South and East Africa.  If he were to ever become President of the organization it might prove to be a spark for renewed growth globally, and so, as noted, he now become the new star to watch in the Watchtower hierarchy.
