A SHOCKING UNTRUTH THAT HAS RUINED COUNTLESS LIVES OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES  BUT ESPECIALLY OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE This was printed in the Awake! magazine of May 22, 1969 on page 15, a publication of the Watchtower Society over Jehovah's Witnesses.  This lie has ruined many lives:   "If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years. ... Therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in highschool and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way toward its finish, if not actually gone!"

WHAT SOME RESTRICTIONS ARE THAT  AFFECT JEHOVAH'S WITNESS CHILDREN VIDEO "MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES" Jehovah’s Witness youths are not allowed to celebrate anyone’s birthday including not their own, nor Mother's Day, Father's Day, Grandparent's Day, Thanksgiving, New Year's Day, Christmas, Easter, Flag Day, the Fourth of July or Independence Day,  Earth Day, St. Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day etc.  They cannot join the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire Girls.  They cannot go to summer leadership camps or other camps.  They can’t become cheerleaders or class officers.  They can’t go to class reunions, school dances or the prom, can’t participate in inter-school sports events, can’t play professional sports, can’t do sky diving, bungee-jumping.  They can’t play judo, karate or other “martial arts.”  They can’t play chess.  They are not to join the YMCA.  They must not volunteer for the Salvation Army or other religious charities such as pantries and thrift stores.  They are not to shop at church garage sales.  They are not to donate to the Red Cross.  They cannot do work for some other religious group or church such as lawn-mowing, painting or fixing a roof. They must salute a flag or say a pledge of allegiance even if it says it’s to a nation under God.  They must not campaign or run for a public office.  They are discouraged from discussing politics and voting.  They cannot smoke, buy or sell pipes, cigarettes or cigars.  They cannot take or give blood.  They are not to say “Bless You!” when someone sneezes or saying phrases such as “Good Luck!”  They cannot tell or listen to ghost stories.  They are discouraged from reading, listening to or watching stories that feature spirits such as Cinderella, the Harry Potter series, Touched By An Angel etc. As with adult Jehovah’s Witnesses they are not to read or study the literature of other religious group, can’t exercise freedom of conscience if it is in opposition to the  Watchtower Society’s policies or teachings.  They cannot read publications in book, magazines or on the internet that are negative about or in opposition to the Watchtower Society.  They cannot question Watchtower about doctrines.  Males are not to wear long hair and also discouraged from wearing beards, nor have their ears pierced.  Females are not to wear pant suits.  They are not to get tattoos.  They cannot date without supervision, must turn themselves and others in for petting, masturbation, premarital sexual intercourse.  They are not allowed to throw rice at weddings.  They are strongly discouraged from attending weddings and funerals of other churches even when a non-Jehovah’s Witness parent or other family member has died.  They are not supposed to marry anyone who is not another Jehovah’s Witness.  They are not to become too friendly with people who are not Jehovah’s Witnesses unless they may be able to get them to study the Bible and convert.  They, as with adults, are to spy and snitch on fellow members for the sake of the Watchtower Society, especially so anytime something sexual may be involved.  Jehovah's Witness children know that if they stay in the religion as adults then the Watchtower organization will also tell what kind of sexual activities that they and their marriage mate can do and not do. They must not associate with Ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses, especially not those who quit over showing a respectful attitude toward and belief in Watchtower and its policies; such persons being called “apostates,” meaning against God.   They are shun Ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses as rigidly as possibly including if they were family members.  Those with psychological problems are permitted to have treatment but it is strongly discouraged! (Watchtower, 9/1/96, pp. 30-31) They must go by the Watchtower magazine instead of the  Bible when there is a conflict.  (For example: 1983 Yearbook, p.21)  They cannot own or use religious pictures, images or crosses.  They are taught that instead of a cross symbolizing the resurrection hope it’s just a murder weapon that killed Christ.  They must try to convert other people into quitting their own religions.  They are taught that all other religions and churches are tools of Satan the devil.  They are told that even most reputable newspapers and TV news broadcasts which report things such as child molestations by some Jehovah’s Witness, especially elders, are just telling the lies of Satan. Instead of enjoying fun time at home, getting to go to school functions etc, they must attend meetings several times every week, read and study only the literature of the Watchtower Society.  Often the literature is a publication they have studied many times before, making it mind-numbingly boring.  They are to regularly go to preach at the doors of people’s homes at times including on the doorsteps of other non-Jehovah’s Witness students.  As with the adults if old enough to know how they must fill out a field service report every month.  They must go with parents to assemblies and conventions.  They are pressured to learn to give talks before the congregation.  They are taught to not aspire to going to college; those who do may be sanctioned by “marking” or having privileges withheld for having done so. Given the preceding, how would you like to have spent your own childhood as a Jehovah's Witness?  How would like your own child or granchild to spend his or her young life as a Jehovah's Witness?

HOW WATCHTOWER TREATS JEHOVAH'S WITNESS CHILDREN AND WHY Awake!, August 8, 1957, page 8 "The Return Of The Woodshed" cartoon This is an actual "cartoon" that the Watchtower Society published way back in 1957, and it set the still prevalent tone for how children are treated/mistreated.  Some later Watchtower Society publications talked more positively of children but in general have not and often have even discouraged Jehovah's Witness parents from having children. Not saying it is, but some would raise the question of if Watchtower's illustrator is here using a subliminal message here.  Notice that the board with the words on it intersects with a triangular section, which is an area of the father's chest; however, it also resembles a sharp tack.  The three buttons on the man's shirt resemble drops of blood.  True, the man is spanking with a hand, but the board makes the major impact upon the eye and mind. Why the anti-children stand?  Watchtower claimed it was because Armageddon was coming and Christ didn't want women to have children during great tribulation.  The fact it costs a lot to raise children, so by discouraging Jehovah's Witness parents from having children, those parents have instead been able to keep and donate to Watchtower more money.  Imagine how many Jehovah's Witness adults have never known the joy of having children or grandchildren; whose entire lineage has died out, due to Watchtower's false pronouncements.  This is not just the death of an individual but a whole group of people, thus remindful of genocide or mass abortions. WHAT JOY FOR JEHOVAH'S WITNESS CHILDREN? I was baptized in autumn of 1978.  At that time and onward to in the early 2000s I and many other Jehovah's Witness parents tried to make up some for the fact that we and our children, in order to follow what Watchtower claimed were Biblically valid reasons, were not to celebrate and enjoy any of the holidays.  Therefore my wife and I provided family picnics and would include some other Jehovah's Witness children who were friends of our children.  Many congregations also provided enjoyment by sponsoring congregation "get-togethers" at parks.  The Brothers and Sisters would eat out together, play basketball etc together, have popcorn parties, etc. However the Watchtower Society snuffed out, destroyed all such get-togethers.  Why?  Some say because in a few instances it was found that Jehovah's Witness youngsters had slipped off and had sex.  Thus congregations and children all over were deprived of such joy, and that has now been the continuing state of things.  Possibly in some other lands the hardline stand against joy might not be as great.  However in the United States I know for a fact that this how it is.......  Not surprisingly we read from polls that some two-thirds of persons raised as Jehovah's Witness children are quitting the Watchtower Society.  Sadly, many are so burnt out on religion that they want nothing much if anything at all to do with God and the Bible. Happily, fortunately, time heals and in particular as young ones leave then become young adults with children of their own, some will become concerned as parents and help their children to come to God as our "loving" heavenly Father, enjoying fellowship with other Christians in far safer environments that to had with the Watchtower Society.

Page 9 Comment: They don't even want Jehovah's Witnesses to play chess which is a non-contact sport and as the above makes clears are also opposed to sports such as football.  Since basketball and baseball take time away from Watchtower meetings at kingdom hall buildings and the ever emphasized knocking on doors with Bible in hand, Watchtower opposes those too.  What's left for the kids?  Not much, which is part of the reason why kids when grown up quit Watchtower.
