In a 1913 Convention Report of the International Bible Students, Watchtower’s early spearhead Charles Taze Russell wrote: “"I am very glad to have this particular opportunity to saying a word about some of the things in which we agree with our Masonic friends, because we are speaking in a building dedicated to Masonry, and we also are Masons. I am a Free Mason. I am a free and accepted Mason."  Some have said he was only saying he was a Mason in a symbolic rather than literal sense.  Regardless of if a Mason per se or only a wannabee Mason, this is of grave concern for the following reasons.

Local Masonic Lodges are branches of Free Masonry. Other branches include the Grottoes, Shriners, Eastern Star, Scottish Rite to name a few.  Besides there also being some religious groups with secretive Masonic affiliations,  members of small orders also operate, can enter and once so positioned manipulate various religious organizations, especially those structured as hierarchies.  To become a Mason, people take oath to a generic Supreme Being or abstract concept acceptable also to non-Christians such as Atheists and Hindus, do rituals etc that in actuality deny Jesus Christ.  

Positive deeds such as done by Shriners to help children are also performed in order to mask the darker doings.  It is sometimes called a secret, but more correctly is a secretive or esoteric Society, a society with secrets.  Some members are permitted to know more of the darker matters and do more than others.  The majority, not advanced into the higher circles or orders, think their organization is wholly or at least mostly benevolent.   Masons have also practiced surveillance and blackballing of any applicants whom local officers do not care for, e.g.  homosexuals.  There are secret hand grips, gestures and words or phrases.

Upon the altar in the middle of a Lodge is a Bible that members are not allowed to read or open past the book of Malachi, that is, they are to snub the entire Christ-focused New Testament.  Masons claim to know and have the divine name of God, which they falsely assert is Jah-Bul-On, their corruption of names for Jah/Jehovah, the Canaanites' god Baal and Egypt’s sun-god Onisirus.  This perverted name is claimed to be God’s true name so holy it must be spoken only when there are three Royal Arch Masons gathered with  intertwined hands.

Albert Pike, the father of modern Masonry said, "Lucifer is God!" and considered Lucifer to be the Bearer of Light, not a person, but a Force, created for good but who may also serve for doing evil. Masonry depicts Satan via the mythological, horned god Pan from whom also came the he-goat of the witches festival called Sabbat.   It is a ritual of the York Rite, Chapter officers who are to call themselves not by the pronoun “I” but by the holy name expression "I AM THAT I AM,” a  ritualistic blaspheming of God.

It is professed that Masonry’s intention is to take an already “good” man and make him better; however it takes in as many “good” men as possible to possibly make some better as part of a mask of organizational goodness while turning some who were good increasingly into users of darkness. 

In short it is a deception and Watchtower's founder Charles T. Russell set up an organization with darkness at the top which over the years has only grown in darkness reaching farther and more directly down to harm the all too trusting innocents at the bottom.  This explain why it has included many “good” men such as George Washington, other great U.S. President and Winston Churchhill, but also leaders and founders of Christian and Satanic cults such as Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, Louis Farakhan, Aliester Crowley, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, Gerald B. Gardner, and Dr. Wynn Westcott. 

Contrary to Masons, Jesus Christ said he had not come to call those without sin but to call sinners which in fact we all are.  Even when he himself was rightly called "good" he modestly said to apply that adjective to his Father in heaven.   Thus, the movement of  Masonry and its associates like the Watchtower Society with their big talk about so-called Truths and "New Light" revelations are false, while Christ alone is, as he says at John 14:6, "The Truth. "
