In 2011 Christian Ex-Jehovah’s Witness Joe B. Hewitt wrote Rescuing Slaves
of the Watchtower. It notes for example that unless a JW pedophile molests a child in front of two
witnesses, no action is taken by congregation leaders, and when parents complain the elders may have them shunned for “causing
dissention” while continuing to hide and protect the pedophile. He cites such examples and gives other invaluable information
helping to free loved ones from Watchtower heads over JWs. One way to get his book is to order copies via
www.joebhewitt.net or reach him directly at Phone, 972-771-8208; Fax 972-771‑8208 evenings.
He is in Texas but is willing to travel and give talks to church groups and others concerning what the Watchtower Society
is doing.

A REVIEW OF THE FOUR PRESIDENTS OF THE WATCHTOWER SOCIETY
(JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES)
EDITED BY EDMOND C. GRUSS
This
presents only a few of the many interesting points made by the editor of the publication, that is Edmond C. Gruss.
Much of the information in it, he notes, came from some insiders who each spent decades in the Watchtower organization
and knew its four presidents Charles Taze Russell, Joseph Franklin Rutherford, Nathan Knorr and Frederick Franz. Many
other books have, of course, told about the four Watchtower presidents, but this book reveals some information and insights
that I have not noticed elsewhere. For example I found it enlightening that on pages 19-22 the book notes
that court documents showed that Russell lied under oath about his business dealings with “The Solon Association.”
It was a wholesale business to which Watchtower gave its mailing list. Russell claimed he was ignorant
about it but then later gave so many details that his committing perjury is obvious although the book does not say that he
was charged for perjury. It goes on to paint him in a bad light as to a trip which he took to the
Orient. For example, it states that a Watchtower Society press release said of a trip which Russell made
to Hawaii: "He had a large audience and attentive hearing." But later the Brooklyn Daily Eagle
wrote that Walter G Smith the editor of the Honolulu Hawaiian Star told the Brooklyn paper that Russell "did not
make a public address as was anticipated" in Hawaii. Gruss says "Russell and his 'entourage'
met with a few men on the docks, while the ship took on coal" then after a few hours it sailed away. (Gruss, p. 23)
Then still later, the Japan Weekly Chronicle wrote that Russell and his gentlemen
came to Yokohama, Japan on December 30. The next day he gave a sermon in Tokyo called “Where Are
The Dead” which seemed unconnected to his missionary work. He and his companions apparently spent
the next day traveling, and later they left Kobe for China. The article notes "The truth is that the whole expedition
is merely a huge advertising scheme!"
The
Brooklyn Daily Eagle noted what the Japanese paper had said and added that "He is delivering sermons to imaginary
audiences on tropical islands and completing 'searching investigations' into the missions of China and Japan by spending
a few hours in each country." (Gruss 24) Decades later Frederick Franz wrote in a Watchtower Society
book called God's Kingdom of a Thousand Years Has Approached that Russell never claimed to be the Faithful and
Wise Servant but, as the book also points out, Franz also did not note that Russell was often identified as such after 1881
in the Watch Tower’s own publications. Gruss states on page 25 that Rutherford's only "ministry"
was when he "was driving out of town into rural Missouri, and lecturing to Blacks working in the cotton field" then
at once reporting his "state-wide lectures" to Russell was in Brooklyn. This seems to
suggest that Rutherford himself actually conducted little to no ministry but to be fair about it, in fact the cotton
fields in Missouri are a long, long way from where Rutherford lived in central Missouri. They are located
in what is called “the Bootheel,” that far southeastern part of the state which extends deeply into Arkansas.
Thus, Rutherford would have had to have driven quite a distance to reach the cotton
field, and also when he went into the Bootheel he was putting his life at risk to do so. This is true because
the white population of the region was controlled by bigoted racists in the Ku Klux Klan who were then highly active and sometimes
lynched people, both African Americans and sometimes also white sympathizers. Rutherford preaching to African
Americans in the Bootheel region’s cotton fields most likely seen as outside interference. To make
more clear the extent to which Rutherford risked his life to preach, long afterward in 1942 an African American named Cleo
Wright was dragged to death chained to the back of a car through the streets of Sikeston, Missouri, his body also set on fire.
Too, some such as Thad Snow (From Missouri) have written that in the early 1900s, a Morehouse, Missouri, man
named Smith (and with some family helping) violated the federal law against slavery. The Smith case was
finally tried in western Missouri, and he was convicted. He had forced African Americans to work in his
fields under duress from whips and being killed by buckshot. He also kept them penned up at night and unpaid. So, Rutherford
was definitely a stubborn man, possibly sincere although the book notes that some contemporaries faulted the Watchtower’s
president on some moral aspects. For example, a highly respected Jehovah's Witness named George H.
Fisher stated in writing that Rutherford had gone to see the Paris Edition of the notorious show "Artists and Models"
with a young woman on his arm. Interestingly, a few months after making the accusation, though, Fisher
suddenly died. Jehovah’s Witnesses might say Jehovah took his life rather than put it down as coincidental
or realize that on the other hand, Fisher might have been murdered, Gruss also notes another source who
wrote that Rutherford often went to nude and semi-nude burlesque shows especially when not in the United States. (Gruss 28,
29)
The
book also is insightful as to Rutherford’s well-known drinking. Even his Watchtower attorney Olin
Moyle resigned due to Rutherford's mistreatment of Bethel staff workers and "glorification of alcohol."
Of course Moyle also had great credibility in the field of law as he was an attorney. Watchtower
published letters by Jehovah’s Witnesses denouncing Moyle for a letter in which he had exposed Rutherford’s doings.
In letters which the Watchtower made sure to publish we find for example "We absolutely refuse to consider the
malicious letters...do not know the contents of the letter written by Mr. Moyle...We never listen to accusations against Brother
Rutherford...for to do so would be disobedient and dangerous to ourselves." (Gruss 30) This is interesting
as it is such an admission of blind obedience. To this day Watchtower remains very anti-women.
Why? The book notes that Rutherford viewed it as idolatry to tip his hat to women, open a door for
them, or stand when they entered a room. In public talks he often called women "a stack of bones and
a hank of hair." The book notes that he opposed women being objects of adulation or romantic love
as this would take them and the young men who fell for them away from preaching to build his organization, instead diverting
them to the natural cycle of starting and raising families. Rutherford also wrote that Mother's Day bestowed "special
honor and worship" on women and was "one step towards turning the people away from the worship of God."
He said "people are in ignorance of Satan's backing and "subtle hand" in the holiday." (Gruss
30, 31) The book also reveals some new points about the Beth Sarim mansion that was kept for
him in San Diego, California. It reveals that Rutherford kept there a chauffeur, two gardeners and four
fully devoted Jehovah's Witness women. Whenever he needed their services, he called them and his secretaries
by a set number of whistle blows. He traveled around the United States by train, but he also drove around
in Cadillacs during the Great Depression years. Walter F. Salter, who headed Watchtower in Canada jumped
onto Rutherford for the cars, boozing, having an extravagant luxury apartment in New York, a "palatial residence on Staten
Island, camouflaged as essential to the broadcasting station WBBR," the Beth Sarim mansion, "commodious and expensive
quarters in Magdeburg, Germany" and provisions for his comfort in London. Salters also faulted Rutherford
for bragging that nothing was too good for himself, telling other Jehovah's Witnesses they must preach door-to-door and
telling them that if they didn't then they were going to be destroyed even while he himself went out drinking. (Gruss
31, 32) When Nathan Knorr became President of the Watchtower Society, the organization,
as many other sources have noted, became more highly organized. However, the book not only notes that Bethel
during Knorr’s years had lot of homosexual activity but gives some more explicit details. For example
Gruss says that several former Bethel workers at the Brooklyn headquarters related that every Saturday night, limousines slowly
drove around the corner on Brooklyn Heights, pulled over to the curb just past the Bethel Home, then young Bethelites slipped
out to crawl into the back seats of the limousines where tinted glass hid what they were doing from outside observers. (Gruss
36)
The
book also tells, as some others have, that Knorr evidently enjoyed giving graphic details about homosexual sex doings even
right at the breakfast table before the Bethel family that included both young men and women. Although
Knorr married there was also gossip that he had a homosexual relationship with the older heavy at the Brooklyn headquarters,
Frederick Franz, who also gave the talk when Knorr was baptized as a youth. However Gruss says he knows of no proof that the
relationship was definite. (Gruss 35, 36) Knorr had a tenth floor penthouse apartment with a private kitchen
etc, and even a personal servant who also acted as a cook. (p. 40) When Frederick Franz
became President of the Watchtower Society there were not only allegations that he had had the homosexual relationship with
Knorr, but that he also had had such a relationship with Ewart (or Ed) Chitty. Eventually Chitty's
being homosexual became too widely known and he was transferred out of Brooklyn world headquarters, although in this instance
too the rumor about Frederick Franz has remained just an allegation. (Gruss 43) And finally,
it is very interesting to hear details about Franz who is well-known for having been the source for and the chief proponent
of the failed End of the world prophecy of 1975. In 1976 Franz told an audience of Jehovah's Witnesses in Toronto: "Do
you know why nothing happened in 1975?" He pointed at them and shouted "It was because you expected
something to happen." At a New York convention he was asked if only Jehovah's Witness kids would
survive Armageddon, and he said "Well, little nits eventually become lice, and little rats grow up to become big rats.
(Gruss 44) For much, much more, do read the book! You just may find yourself
floored by the revelations in it.

The Truth Book By Joy Castro The Truth Book is a fascinating biography.
In it author Joy Castro is adopted at birth by a family of Jehovah’s Witnesses, losing the normal joys associated
with childhood but finally regains her life after running off at age 14.
Today
she is a literature professor at Wabash College in Indiana. Because she is tolerant of other people’s
religions and no longer a JW, she is now shunned by JWs as an evil “apostate”!
The American Booksellers
Association has named her powerful book a Book Sense Notable Book. It has also been used as a text in courses on
autobiography, women's literature, creative nonfiction, women and psychology.

CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE By
Raymond Franz
In 1981 the Governing Body of the
Watchtower Society over Jehovah's Witnesses disfellowshipped Raymond Franz. This means they excommunicated and ordered
all JWs to start severely shunning Franz, and they did so after declaring that his views were "apostate," meaning
against their own views about God and God's will.
Franz went on to write this biographic account which tells some of the Governing Body's hypocrisies such
as their directing JWs in Malawi, Africa, to not buy a cheap card saying they supported government even though this meant
some were imprisoned, beaten, raped and murdered although directing the JW Elders in Mexico to let JW males there keep buying
cards false saying they had done a year of military service.
The book reveals many other things that
only a former insider at the very top of the organization could reveal. No Ex-JW should be without a copy of this eyes-opener.
P.S.
Raymond Franz has another great book called In Search Of Christian Freedom as well as numerous essays. See his

In this perceptive examination into the inner workings of cults, Robin Jackson exposes
the identifying marks and intriguing techniques cults use to win over members. Jackson uncovers the characters and beliefs
of some of these groups that can very often inflict grievous harm on society.
In a world that is becoming increasingly secular and disillusioned with mainstream religions, cults seem to be flourishing.
If mainstream religions fail to satisfy people’s needs for a spiritual aspect to their lives, the cults are there to
lap them up. They promise a guaranteed way to salvation or a community of like-minded individuals. According to them everybody
else misses the mark. At least, that is what they claim.
Cults: How They Work presents a hard hitting, yet witty look into the sometimes secretive
inner workings of the cults. But be warned. This book contains information cults do not want you to acquire.
So, you think you are immune to cult recruitment? Think again!

South African author, Robin Jackson, has written a heart wrenching,
yet inspiring account about his battle to come to terms with the conflicting teachings, deception, and cover-ups of the religious
cult he became a member of at the tender age of 13.
The story
begins with the author transporting the reader back to his childhood days and early life influences. It chronicles Robin Jackson’s
subsequent journey through the cult he was led to believe is “God’s sole collective channel for the flow of Biblical
truth to men”.
Jackson’s story will take
you through the highs and lows, joys and tragedies, and to the depths of despair which eventually leads to his exit from the
organization known as Jehovah’s Witnesses. This book will inspire anyone who is contemplating an exit from a destructive
mind control cult.
Losing The Faith: Truth under Scrutiny is a powerful and touching account of a man’s journey to freedom from repression
and religious intolerance.

KINGDOM HALL NO MORE By Daniel Chamberlayne
Permission to use the photos above were given
by author Daniel Chamberlayne. From left to right are: Daniel as an adult; Daniel as a child at the baptism about
which he had no say; the cover of his book.
Daniel Chamberlayne has written that he was raised
in the middle class area of Hollis, Queens, New York by his parents Warren and Louise Chamberlayne.
In September
of 1974, at the young age of 7, Daniel experienced the tragic loss of his father while vacationing with his parents in Acapulco,
Mexico and soon after, Daniel's mother dedicated her life to Jehovah and became a baptized Jehovah Witness.
With his father gone, Young Daniel was now indoctrinated as an associate of the Jehovah Witnesses by his mother
and started attending the Kingdom Hall.
He tried
constantly to cope with the loss of his father by embracing the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses. Of the many lessons
learned, the one most favored was a prophecy of Armageddon arriving in 1975 and all who had perished would return. Daniel
would wait patiently only to realize there would be no 8th birthday cake, no return of his father, and no answers.
Nevertheless, Daniel honored his mother and participated in all
the activities of the Kingdom Hall throughout his childhood till his early twenties. Stifled by the organizational rules and
a great price to pay for anyone breaking them, Daniel began to live a double life.
He continued on attending the kingdom Hall as instructed by his
mother and on September 4, 1988, by no choice of his, Daniel had gotten baptized as a member of the Jehovah Witnesses.
18 months later in the early months
of 1990, while being confronted by the Elders, Daniel's name was publicly read out at the congregation he had
been attending for over 15 years that he was now "disfellowshipped" and no longer recognized as a Jehovah Witness.
Besides New York, Daniel has
lived in other locations such as New Mexico and Georgia.

I'M PERFECT, YOU'RE DOOMED Tales from a Jehovah's Witness Upbringing
Kyria Lydia Abrahams I’m Perfect,
You’re Doomed tells about
her life from childhood into young adulthood. Its humor outshines the more somber aspects such as
her being denied the chance to have a childhood of happy occasions such as birthdays and Christmas; also denied any normal
opportunities to date for fun; and being forbidden to marry outside the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Her book is honest and funny, not bitter but beautifully expressive.
It
is not surprising to know that, when not writing, today Kyria Abrahams is a standup comedian and a poetess of the
spoken word.

ATTIC ALONE: An Ex-Jehovah's Witness Finds The Church
Arlene McGinley is a retired former Jehovah's Witness whose new book
tells for example how as a child in the 1940 and 1950s she would physically, even mentally, have to retreat into an attic
just to get away from wierd doings of the Watchtower Society.
She was upset when a Jehovah's Witness died from a car accident and her father said his
parents had not given him blood transfusions after which he bled to death.
At the time many Jehovah's Witness parents poured acid on their children's arms to mimick a vaccination
scar. Watchtower was then misteaching that vaccines are unChristian evils much as it still does about blood transfusions.
Too, then as now, Watchtower also opposed higher education, stifling the artistry of all too many creative
people.
Arlene would ultimately marry, have children, leave the Watchtower Society, by prayer
overcome smoking cigarettes and journey on to find Christian fellowship in a Baptist church.

BLOODFLOWERS By
David Villa
David Villa is a young Mexican American ex-JW author whose novel
Bloodflowers is a fictional account about a Jehovah's Witness, Daniel Verona, who is a hemophiliac. The deaths of JW twins causes him to begin a spiritual journey searching for
the real truth about "The Truth." Along the way he must also fight the fact that he can never live up to "Jehovah's
perfect standards."
Thus, we see that David's book deals with that most controversial of all misinterpretations
imposed by the Watchtower Society over JWs, the prohibition against using emergency blood transfusions even when
lives are at stake!

GROWING UP
IN MOMA'S CLUB BY FORMER JEHOVAH'S WITNESS RICHARD KELLY:
Recently Ex-Jehovah's Witness author
Richard E. Kelly appeared on Rick Fearon's Six Screens Of The Watchtower telephone conference, which is every two weeks
on a Saturday night. Richard Kelly has said of his book:
"When I was four years of age, during
my mother’s turbulent five-month conversion process, I thought she was joining a club. Once she became a member, Mama
insulated me from an outside world she believed would be destroyed before I reached the age of twenty. While I didn’t
know it at the time, my childhood was similar in many ways to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest—forced
to live with Nurse Ratchet-type rules and surrounded by a supporting cast of unusual and colorful characters."
Richard's website is at http://richardekelly.com/ and the book is now in its third edition.
If you're an author also interested in being on Rick Fearon's phone conference, you can contact him via
sixscreens06@yahoo.com. Those wanting to listen to it live can dial 712-432-8710 at 6:30 EST (or earlier for informal
chat), and when asked for your pin number followed by the pound sign, enter 9925#.
There is no charge for the
call, only your long distance calling rates will apply. Active JWs wanting to disguise their voices can muffle
those some and ask Rick for the voice-changer.
P.S. When on Rick's conference show, Richard mentioned that a sequel
called Ghosts From Moma's Club should be out sometime about December 2009-January 2010.

BRENDA LEE'S OUT OF THE COCOON
Brenda Lee
was a child in Pennsylvania's countryside, swinging on grapevines, having fun with her farm pets, exploring
the forests with cousins, enjoying holidays and birthdays until one day two Jehovah’s Witness strangers
knocked at her parents’ door.
Suddenly her childhood swirled into the vortex of a deadly
nightmare. Her life became oppressive. There was isolation and the numbing loss of normal socializing with other
people.
However, as a testimony to human endurance and resilence, ultimately

Andy Walks With Me, authored
by Ralph Heidler with an assist from his wife Twila, explores the traumatic, abuse-ridden life of young Leroy
in his daily encounters with Father, a psychotic, dictatorial, would-be preacher. Compelled to escape Father’s agonizing
punishments, Leroy has nowhere to go but within his own mind to find the peace he needs to survive. Father, a harsh and unforgiving
tyrant, did not spare the rod in raising his fourteen children. Mother, who was distant and cold, provided the nursing care
for her abused children but could not truly love them or heal their inner pain. When Leroy becomes a young man, he assumes
his birth name of Ralph, marries and begins to raise six children. One day he disappears and mercifully loses his excruciating
childhood memories. Forgetting his immediate past as well, Ralph finds himself on a strange but eventful twenty-year odyssey
that will eventually bring him back to confront his childhood demons and the family he left behind.
A unique story of surviving human cruelty that
devastated an entire family, Andy Walks With Me is heart-wrenching, inspiring, and yes, even humorous.

DIANE WILSON The Awakening
Of A Jehovah's Witness
Donald Nelson, a former Watchtower missionary in Brazil
has written: "Diane Wilson, former long-time member of the Watchtower organization,
has written a veritable "spiritual thriller", describing her dramatic journey to psychological freedom. She
explores with frankness and passion her unfortunate servitude to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, an organization which
views itself as the sole possessor of all religious truth.
The fascinated reader will be swept along emotionally
as Diane details her odyssey to freedom from what most former Jehovah’s Witnesses describe as a mind-control cult. Diane
spells out her initial vulnerability to the unique claims of the Watchtower Society and her fierce struggle to disengage herself
from such powerfully persuasive people; in short, she reveals the dark side of Watchtower worship.
As a former
high-ranking member of the Watchtower Society, I can personally vouch for the veracity of her analysis of Watchtower methods
and policies. In my twenty-two years as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, I had attained the position of “Traveling
Overseer” both in the United States and Brazil. I am a graduate of the Watchtower Bible School, “Gilead”,
and have spent tens of thousands of hours attending meetings, studying their literature, going from door-to-door with the
Watchtower message, and giving sermons in hundreds of Kingdom Halls (Witness churches).
Diane’s description
of life in the Watchtower Society is painfully accurate. If the reader has friends or neighbors or loved ones in that Organization,
Diane’s moving autobiography will poignantly underscore the tragic position these individuals are in. The reader will
put down Diane’s book (and I’m sure most will read it in a single sitting) with a greatly enlarged understanding
of what life in the Watchtower cult is all about. And, perhaps more importantly, with deeper sympathy for those unfortunate
people known as Jehovah’s Witnesses."

The End is Nigh...Again! ( But this time we really mean it.)
By Douglas Lee
The End is Nigh...Again is a book like no other. Its palpable enthusiasm literally
scoops up the reader and guides them through a hilarious true life tale of a young boy called Douglas who, through no fault
of his own, finds himself born into a fundamentalist religion. With his
tongue firmly in his cheek, Douglas Lee tells this family saga story of his life as a second generation Jehovah’s Witness
and of his experiences within this bizarre religion. He candidly
exposes the web of sin that lies beneath the holier-than-thou facade they present to the world and takes the reader on a roller
coaster ride of sex, incest, paedophilia, debauchery, wife swapping and a host of other jaw dropping and highly original sins.
Douglas Lee is a Teacher and Therapist with a passion for learning. He lives with his wife, two children and dog and
accepts every day as a gift and a challenge..... For book pricing etc from lulu.com, just click his photo above!
